Founded by the owners of Sundial Brands in 2012, The Sofi Tucker Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, public charity inspired by the woman whose life’s work forms the basis for Sundial Brand’s products, SheaMoisture and Nubian Heritage.
BRIEF HISTORY
In 1912, as a young widow, Sofi Tucker sold African Black Soap and hand crafted Shea Butter based skin products in the village market and throughout the countryside of Bonthe, Sierra Leone.
In her memory, the Sofi Tucker Foundation provides financial grants to organizations that seek to economically empower women, their families and communities in the United States and throughout Africa.
BY THE NUMBERS
Todee Mission supports 140 villages with its clinic, farm, and other facilities.
In 2014, 500 New York youth visited Homecoming Farm to learn the value of organic gardening and how the garden feeds people less fortunate.
Homecoming Farms welcomes and feeds 350 people a day who otherwise have no place to go for a nutritious meal.
